This nomination recognises the outstanding commitment of the all-volunteer Board of Management of Yass APEX Homes, whose dedication over the past nineteen years has ensured the facility remains a vital contributor to the wellbeing of senior citizens in the Yass Valley.



The Yass APEX Homes complex provides affordable, independent living for local seniors, with forty units currently housing up to forty-seven residents. Since 2006, the Board of Management has responsibly overseen the expansion, refurbishment, and ongoing operation of the complex, applying a wide range of skills to ensure the facility is well-maintained, financially sustainable, and compliant with government and community accountability standards.

At a time when housing affordability is a growing challenge, the Board’s commitment to keeping rents at accessible levels highlights the significant social value of APEX Homes. Through their tireless volunteer service, the Board continues to enhance the quality of life for many senior residents across the Yass Valley, making them highly deserving of recognition as Community Group of the Year.
